i did put together a short viral to go with Storytelling of Ravens

this is something I did for promoting the film, this was done kind of early, before we were considering how we were going ot promote it.

Reseults of my Survey

i made a survey some time ago to see how many people would be interested, and in what product.

to see which product would be the best to go with.

Looking at Aardmunds Angry Kid series as an example

ANGRY KID / AARDMAN / DARREN WALSH

Created by Darren Walsh, Angry Kid is a red-headed kid, with a chopper bike and snorkel jacket. Adolescence is just around the corner but the signs are already bad. He's a rude, obnoxious, accident-prone dork. He is that vital missing link between `Beavis and Butthead', `South Park' and `Kevin and Perry'.

This is pitched at teenagers and above, but would play to `aspirational' 10-year olds. The appeal is going to be 10-45+ and predominantly male. The `atomfilms' website, has had more than 10 million plays, so Aardman have very high hopes that this could be a massive hit.

The films are currently showing on BBC3 and a new long-form television version is in development.

Aardman's pedigree speaks for itself, having achieved global success with `Wallace & Gromit', `Creature Comforts' and `Chicken Run', they are a recognisable brand. `Angry Kid' is ruder, blacker and edgier than these, but very well-observed and very funny.

I was looking at this as an example of one of Aardmunds characters, and how they put that character around, how they get people watching it.

you have Atom.com where they were talking about this series, as its not suited for young children, Aardmund made it available only on the internet, since then it has appeared on BBC3

Looking into character branding.

i have recently thought about branding the Raven character for marketing purposes.

Our plan for this term on "Storytelling of ravens" , Our final year project was to create some interest around our film, mostly what we have will be at the degree show. For the film we have been using Green screen puppetry mixed with 3D animation. So we have a large Set for our puppet raven, this would be great to have as a prop, and the prop raven itself will be coming to the show as well.

I have recently been looking into branding, turning our character into a brand icon we can later turn into merchandising. here are some examples i have looked at.

I also ordered new business cards from Vista print, one of them featuring the 3D head from Ravens, and also 3D from my other 3D project "Leap of Faith"

ideas best to go with

We are considering doing promotional posters for the tower of london, with a storytelling of a Raven bent to it. I think since a lot of students are going to want to get their showreels up to scratch, maybe animation masterclasses, showing how to use the graph editor, and get the most out of a walk cycle, maybe one to one lessons. That is something we can do as a group.

This is what the Raven group are considering for the Degree show

For "Storytelling of a Raven" the short film i am developing, We have this huge prop Bird house made, and we are going to be puppeteering a raven muppet, and later add a CI head on top. I think doing a soft toy version of this character would be the next logical thing to do.

Since I don't much like sewing, making a plushy prototype would be up to Sophie, my Director who made the raven puppet, or my Girlfriend who knows how to sew.
So applying for a digital painting competition is more what I do naturally, and would like to do further down the line anyway.
